07:30 am: The local guide will pick you up at your hotel and driver from Hanoi through the Red River Delta toward Ba Be, about 270 kilometres by road (around 7hours). Head north following curves of the river valley, the landscape turns mountainous. Stop at a roadside village for lunch on a restaurant in a village on the way. The route will take you up through the mountains and tea plantations to Ba Be Lake. Arriving in Ba Be National Park later in the afternoon. You will then travel to the Tay village of Coc Toc, with its beautiful stilt houses and friendly population of Tay people, who make their living by fishing in the stunning Ba Be lakes and farming. You will then enter Hua Ma Cave which features thousands of stalactites and columns. You may also wish to take the option of walking or cycling around Coc Toc village, kayaking on the lake in boats that we reserve for our tour guests, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings and enjoying the views.

Breakfast with the local family. Then drive to a jetty. You will take a boat on Ba Be Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Vietnam. Depending on the weather, take a swim in the lake’s pristine waters, or if you’re lucky you might spot monkeys in the jungles surrounding the lake. After lunch, continue by boat to the Tay village of Pac Ngoi, where you tonight you will stay in a stilted village. The boat will come to Puong Cave where you can explore the stalactites and stalagmites which are a result of the erosion of the river on the karst as well as looking out for the bat colony several thousand strong. After your, exploration of the lake, you return to local homestay for relaxing and having a cup of tea and a chat with your hosts to learn more about how their lifestyle is changing. Having breakfast, spend time for relaxing or chating with local before or see colourful morning local market. Then head south towards Hanoi. On the way, stop over in Thai Nguyen provin for visting Tay Nguyen ethnology museum and see exhibits and artefacts from the region. Arrive in Hanoi, drop you off at your hotel. Ba Bể Lake (Vietnamese: Hồ Ba Bể; Ba means Three, Bể is from the Tày language word pé, meaning “lake”) is the largest natural lake in Vietnam. It is located 240 km northwest of the capital Hanoi city in Nam Mẫu commune, Ba Bể district, Bắc Kạn Province in the Northeast region of the country.
Ba Be Lake is home of 13 tribal villages, most belonging to the Tay minority plus smaller numbers of Dzao and Hmong. Nowadays, Ba Be Lake is getting more attention of domestic and international visitor for its variety of flora and fauna.
